information from the seller:
The organ was removed by my company several years ago, and has been placed in storage.
There are several playing organs built by Aeolian which would give a customer an idea of what the sound is like. These turn of the century house organs are of a particular style, and were very similar tonally.
The organ was in very good condition when I removed it from the Vanderbilt house. It was dirty from having been sitting there for 100 years. The cables were cut of course, and would have to be rewired. The leather in the windchests was actually still good, and may not need replacing. The reservoir needs to be restored, and some case work is needed.
I can say that the pipework is in perfect condition, and the original ivories are like the day they were made.
This is a special organ, actually a museum piece. The case is made of mahogany.
ASKING PRICE OF THE SELLER: 100.000 US $ as it is.
The seller is also a professional
organbuilder specializing in restoration. He is also the U.S Representative
for Rudolf von Beckerath Orgelbau. The organ is also available in completely
restored condition for $350,000., plus shipping
